Soccer

Soccer, also known as football in most countries outside North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net. Players, except for the goalkeepers, primarily use their feet to control and move the ball, though they can also use their bodies (except for their arms and hands) to play the ball.

Soccer is governed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) at an international level, and the sport is characterized by its combination of strategic play, athleticism, and teamwork. The game is played on a rectangular field called a pitch, with goals at each end. Matches typically last 90 minutes, divided into two halves, plus any additional time for stoppages in play.

Soccer is the world’s most popular sport, with millions of fans and players globally, and is known for its rich history and cultural significance in many societies. Various competitions, such as domestic leagues and international tournaments like the FIFA World Cup, highlight the sport’s prominence and competitive nature.
